Restaurant franchise • Frequently asked questions
What ongoing support is given to Cora Breakfast and Lunch restaurant franchisees?
The Operations team provides ongoing support and training through restaurant visits and coaching. Cora franchisees receive supervision to ensure systems, specifications and standards are in place.
How long does it take to complete the franchising approval process?
We have an in-depth franchisee approval process which takes into account many facets of the application, including the following:
- Interviews
- Financial verification
- Disclosure
- In-restaurant workshop
The approval process itself will take a minimum of three months. The awarding of the franchise is subject to executive approval.
What happens after I am approved as a Cora franchisee?
Once a candidate is approved as a Cora franchisee, a franchise agreement is signed to confirm our relationship. We then begin to coordinate the selection of a site.
What do you mean by unencumbered cash?
Unencumbered cash is cash on hand, in a savings account, chequing account or a GIC account, otherwise known as “liquid capital.” Your assets must be in Canada, and you must be able to provide appropriate documentation to substantiate all assets.
Do I have to operate the restaurant myself?
We require franchisees to be owner/operators. You can consider an operating partner; however, you and/or the operating partner must participate in all stages of the franchisee approval process and your operating partner will be required to have a form of interest in the business.
Who selects the site/location?
We work together on all suggestions.
What are the criteria for a Cora Breakfast and Lunch franchise restaurant site?
Restaurants are typically located in a trade area. We favour spaces with 2,500 to 3,500 square feet in a location that leverages a mix of residential, commercial and industrial consumers, with ample parking.
